After the death of his own father, who lived in Norway and was a stranger to him, Michael (Georg Friedrich) sets off from Berlin to the far north with his 14-year-old son Luis, to whom he is a stranger. After the funeral, Luis reluctantly agrees to spend a few more days travelling and hiking through the remote countryside. However, the confinement in the car and tent does not create any closeness, the atmosphere is tense, the boy is withdrawn and reacts angrily to the attempts at contact made by his father, who after years of absence wants to make up for this and catch up on what he has missed. Long car journeys - one of them lasting several minutes in increasingly dense fog -, a spherical drone score and several omissions characterize this minimalist father-son road movie. A small conciliatory moment does not a happy ending make. (bik)
